Jen grew up in Penticton, BC. At age 14, she moved to Winnipeg (leaving her family behind) to pursue dance. Coming from a dance background, 13 years dancing professionally with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Jen admits that she initially approached yoga with the “no pain, no gain” mentality she had while dancing. She was amazed at how much her practice shifted once she realized it wasn’t just about powering through the class, but taking it one posture, one breath, at a time. The yoga room became a space without judgement, somewhere to find coping mechanisms for life’s daily stresses and challenges.
After retiring from the RWB in 2011, everything fell into place and Jen completed her Moksha training in beautiful Victoria, BC in June, 2012. She taught at the Moksha studios in Winnipeg for several years before moving to Regina. And then her family’s dream came true! An opportunity to move them back home to BC…to Victoria!! Jen loves sharing yoga practice with her hubby, and two little boys (her youngest is a Cystic Fibrosis Warrior). When not in the yoga studio, Jen is outside, breathing in the salty air, happily trading in her Sorels for rain boots.
Jen is continually inspired by the passion, support, and love within the Yoga Lab Yoga community. She’s always looking for new adventures, and would love to hear about your favourite place to explore on the Island!
She teaches The Roots, Flow, Barre, and Prenatal classes. Jen has also completed MUTU Pro training and is excited to get classes going for Mamas postpartum. An opportunity to restore, reconnect, and realign.
